Prononciation of thank you in Hebrew language
Step 1
Say “toh“. In Hebrew, the simplest and most common way to say “thank you” is “todâ” “תודה”. The first syllable is “toh“.
Try to pronounce this syllable with your tongue and lips on the front of your mouth to get a sound that slides slightly towards “oo“. You don’t have to say “too“, but it is not the usual classic “oh” sound either.
Step 2
Say dâ. The second syllable of “todâ” begins with a standard English “d”. Some Hebrew speakers pronounce it with a short “ah” instead.
When you pronounce this syllable, try to open your mouth a little. Pronounce it with the middle or back of your mouth (not with your lips forward) to get the perfect intonation.
Step 3
Pronounce the whole word with the emphasis on the “dah“. “Toda” is actually pronounced Toh-dah, with the stress on the second syllable.
It is important to respect the pronunciation: if you put the stress on the first syllable (Toh-dah), the word will sound strange and will be more difficult to understand.
