Alef+ — false-beginner Hebrew beyond the alphabet
At the Alef+ level you already read the Hebrew alphabet and survive short exchanges; now you consolidate the basics, master the present tense in Hebrew, widen your everyday vocabulary and start speaking in full sentences. In the Ulpan progression of Hebrew levels from Alef to Dalet, Alef+ is the bridge between Beginner (Alef) and Bet.
Is Alef+ your level?
False-beginner Hebrew fits you if you can sound out words slowly and manage a basic conversation but freeze beyond the essentials — typical of olim who learned some Hebrew before or after Aliyah. The free Hebrew level test confirms it in minutes, before you climb toward Gimel.
Where to study Alef+
Alef+ runs in live Zoom classes, in the Tel Aviv Ulpan and in the self-paced video course, and you can warm up between lessons with the free Hebrew podcast. Not sure which format fits your schedule, or whether Alef+ or Bet is your true starting point? Contact me and we will place you.
